Richmond Essex School of the Performing Arts (RichEx) offers training in Russian Classical Ballet technique for all ages and skills levels. Other regular programs include Creative Movement for children ages 3 and 4, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, ballroom, and social dance. Throughout the year and during the summer session our studio may also offer group or private classes in voice, musical theater, drama, music and art.
Mission Statement
RichEx is committed to the art of dance. We introduce and instill self-expression, discipline, and passion in each of our students. Whether a student is dancing for fun, exercise, or planning to enter the arts on a professional level, we are here to guide him or her along the way.
Our goal is to allow each dancer to experience the elements of dance including confidence, coordination, creativity, grace, musicality, rhythm, self-esteem, technique, and an appreciation for music and dance. We achieve this by employing the following objectives with pupils of all ages:
Education of the body and personality through training in dance.
Enjoyment of movement and technical skills for artistic expression as well as for personal development.
Creative expression through dance as a means of communicating ideas.
Development of a sense of rhythm, awareness of form and design in dance and its relation to other arts.
Furthermore, classes focus on developing the four pillars of dance with each student: strength, flexibility, technique, and endurance. Each of these is necessary to produce a proper dancer in any discipline. All exercises performed in class will assist students in cultivating one or more of these attributes.
§
Regular attendance is necessary and expected in order for students to progress. Our studio operates on a 10 month basis in the fall with a mandatory 6 week summer session for all pointe and Int/adv. students.

Our studio has a mandatory uniform policy. Please contact the office or consult the Studio Handbook for information on the specific uniform requirements for your class.
