UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
FOR BALLET
2010-2011 School Year
Curtain Call catalogs are available at the information desk for any uniforms, shoes or accessories not available in our shop. Our shop now carries Gellows reversible toe pads for pointe.
Gentlemen’s attire may be ordered through the studio shop.
LADIES:
Mom and Me and Creative Movement: tank leotard in pink, white ankle socks or pink microfiber footed ballet tights and pink leather ballet slippers. Optional: crepe pull-up wrap skirt in pink.
Beginner and intermediate levels: camisole leotard in black, scoop or v back, pink microfiber footed tights and pink ballet slippers. NO SKIRTS. ABSOLUTELY NO SHORTS
JUNIOR COMPANY: black or royal blue camisole leotard, pink convertible tights and pink canvas split sole ballet slippers.
SENIOR COMPANY: black or red camisole leotard any style back, pink convertible tights and pink canvas split sole ballet slippers.
MODERN DANCE: black camisole leotard, black convertible or footless tights, bare feet or lyrical thong.
LYRICAL: black camisole leotard, must have both black and beige convertible tights, lyrical thong or bare feet.
PAS DE DEUX: black camisole leotard, pink convertible tights, pointe shoes, practice tutu.
GENTLEMEN:
Creative Movement and Preballet: white fitted t-shirt or Bal-togs cotton lycra short sleeve leotard in black, Bal-togs cotton lycra leggings in black, white lightweight socks and white ballet shoes.
Levels Beginner and up: white fitted t-shirt or Bal-togs cotton lycra tank leotard, Bal-togs footless cotton/lycra leggings or miliskin tights. (suntan cotton lycra dance belt when appropriate), white lightweight ankle socks, white split sole ballet shoes.
- Ladies’ hair must be secured in a bun at ALL TIMES. If hair is short a stretch-comb style hair band will be necessary. No hair accessories (scrunchies, bun covers, etc.) should be on or around your bun. Students should have extra hair pins, hair elastics, and hair gel/spray to secure their hair. (See our website for “how to make a bun” www.richexperformingarts.org.
- Students without the proper materials to make a bun will be give an “emergency bun kit” and $2.00 will be charged to their account.
- NO JEWELRY allowed except stud earrings. Do not bring valuables to the studio! RichEx is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
- Ladies on pointe MUST have a needle, thread, scissors, water-proof tape and band-aids with them at EVERY pointe class. Students must be able to get into their shoes within a 5 minute time frame. PRACTICE!
- Students must wear street clothes cover-ups AT ALL TIMES outside the Richmond Essex School of the Performing Arts building.
- Dance shoes must NEVER be worn outside the studio.
- Underwear should not be worn under dance attire. Tights are made with a cotton crotch for proper hygiene so this creates no health risk for the student.
- Should a student forget any mandatory items for class work, the teacher may ask the student to sit and observe class. This is for safety and at the teacher’s discretion.
